    on a standard tractor with these knobs you will normaly have
    (draft)depth/hight control
    1 to restrict the hight the arms will lift
    1 to control the speed the arms drop
    1 for for draft...

    we used to have one of those 100 quid pots ,, ran it of road compressor , it was absolutely hopeless , couldnt get the sand ti flow through it and when it did it just wore out the valves

    sounds like your cross shaft is knackered , either the splines have worn out or its sheared , splines worn of most likely
