    Re: Sheep sponge

I have known one get pulled out of a goat by another goat if that helps. A phone call to a vet should not cost you anything and will give you a better answer than what I can give you.

    Re: Colbalt deficiency or Fluke?

If you know that you have flukey fields I would fluke them now. I had this problem 3 years ago and sent a lamb for post mortem. I had both fluke and resistant worms. There had never been a fluke...

Re: improving ground for sale purposes

I would aim to get it topped and sell as is. It takes a lot of effort and time to get rid of rushes, thistles ect and you could end up spending far more than you would recoup in extra sales revenue.
  8. Re: What is the best building layout for a 150 cow dairy herd?

Would this be adapting an existing site or a complete green field site? Money no object or having to use thrift where possible? It feels like a long time ago that we gave up the dairy herd so I...

I have been persuaded to grow a small plot of flax for the spinners/weavers in this household next year. Going by the books hanging about on the subject it is the in thing at the moment.

Re: Hill Ram on Lowland sheep

The cross is usually done the other way round to improve carcase conformation. The horns should not be a problem at birth as they are small to non existant at that stage.

Re: Could anybody help with a Haybob please ?

It is supposed to just drop out when the pin at the top is removed. A tap with a sledgehammer will have swollen the end so that it will not fit down the hole anymore.
