Re: improving ground for sale purposes

Thank you Tina. Could you tell us how big the field is please. And even a County would enable us to give you a better idea of potential. And throughout all of this remember something that my first...

Re: improving ground for sale purposes

You haven't actually given any indication as to the location and that will make a huge difference as to price realised. If you are close to suburbia where there would be the potential for horsey...

Re: A braver man than me!

? With no roll bar or safety cab ? And that engine will eventually be starved of oil at that angle while travelling as slow as that,

Re: A braver man than me!

He's not brave John. He's a twat who doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a nice old Super Major/County. I wonder what the engine oil pressure was when he was at 45 degrees ?

Re: A night on the tiles.

We've got buzzards and ravens in a wood 200 yards away. They would have any chicks which is perhaps why we haven't seen any for years but would they have the adults ?

    Re: Which grass seed mix?

With the racehorse job if it wasn't cut by the 2nd week of june then you could forget about it for that market, and the two really decent chaps that I used to grow for would know when it was cut to...

    A night on the tiles.

Just goes to prove that you're never too old to learn. I had always thought that partridges always jugged on the ground but it appears not to be true. We have been feeding this cock and two hen...

    Re: Which grass seed mix?

Some annual and perennial ryegrass need to be in the mix, as well as a small amount of clover - some red and some white which will leave a bit of nitrogen behind to encourage regrowth which can be...

    Re: Which grass seed mix?

Again it all depends on the type of horse market you are aiming for. I grew 40-ish acres for the racehorse trade for many years as well as making 40-50,000 bales as a contractor for customers, mostly...

Thanks everybody. Didn't realise it would be appreciated like that. But I feel that I need to add that although I used Photoshop to stitch 3 photos. together I didn't manipulate the photo. in any...

    Not agricultural but still interesting.

Two nights ago we had an amazing sunset here. I couldn't get it all in one shot and so took three and stitched them together with Photoshop.

Could you expand on "early cut" please ? And what is the hay to be fed to ?

Re: Allman crop sprayer 30ft boom (older model)

That all depends on the formulation of the glyphosate in the mix. i.e. the strength. Is it 360gms/lt, 480, or 520 ? With all due respect you are embarking on a serious project if you have no...

    Re: JCB 3CX 1986 Overheating

Which side of the radiator did you check ? Remember it is probably a pusher fan, i.e. it doesn't suck air in from the front, it sucks it in from the back and pushes it out the front of the radiator....

Re: Changing from poly to sisal.

Didn't know that. Thanks WRSNI. There was one problem with a fan on the knotters of a 701. Most of the sledges in those days were manned. And if you were the unfortunate chap riding one all the crap...

Re: Changing from poly to sisal.

Very little experience with Massey balers. I used a 10 or a 15 I think it was when I worked on a farm but when I started up on my own I needed to buy a mower and a baler. 45 for a s/h IH B23...

You will find that sisal is easier on your hands than poly, especially if you're not used to handling many bales. I think rodents like it a bit more than poly so put plenty of food down for them. ;) ...
