Re: WMD? Tick pyemia, joint ill, what????

It does not sound like joint ill as that gives hot swollen joints.

I would give a vitamin and mineral drench to an older animal but at such a young age I would like to talk to my vet, as the rumen...

Re: Could anybody help with a Haybob please ?

It is supposed to just drop out when the pin at the top is removed. A tap with a sledgehammer will have swollen the end so that it will not fit down the hole anymore.

    Re: Farm Crime Dissertation

I would have preferred to use (and did) the first part of a postcode for location rather than what you asked for. You also gave a very limited type of machinery missing off important items like...
  4. Re: Could anyone help me with single farm payments advice?

The minimum is 5 hectares which is about 12.5 acres so those christmas trees could take your Dad to below the claimable amount.

Re: To dose lambs against Coccidia or not?

I have dosed this year as the lambs were housed for a lot longer than I would like. Here nematodirus is more of the problem when the lambs are outside.

    Re: Agriculture collages ?

First you have to decide what course you wish to do and then see which colleges offer that course. Do not under estimate your living expenses, they add up very quickly and what seems like a generous...

    Re: Anal atresia help

If the ram was able to impregnate her then yes but she should really have been culled and not used for breeding.

    Re: Lincoln red x redpol

The original Lincoln Red is an endangered breed and I would not want to be using any nice cows to produce crossbred calves.

Re: The Beast From The East.

Fortunately most of the sheep have a huge water trough, a leftover from our dairy days. We kept breaking a hole at one end for them to use. The level was getting so that we would need to fill them...

Re: Planning etc and housing workers?

I got a Britcab cabin last year and it did not need any planning as it was placed within the curtilage of the house. It is classed as a garden shed as it does not have any plumbing/cooking...

    Re: grass harrow recomendations?

Every situation is different. Some fields have spots where trash accumulates and others where it gets left behind and spread. If the field is even and you have suitable harrows use the less...

Re: Bad start to lambing 2018

I would also get a fresh dead lamb and membranes to the vet so checks for disease can be done. It may be too late to prevent any this year but it may be something that could be vaccinated against in...

    Re: best beef suckler cows

You need to start with the basics. Do you need hardy or not? Will they be wintering in or out? What type of land will they be on, what sort of grass, old pasture or new leys? There are so many...

    Re: Interest in goats milk??

My advice is to get yourself equipped with a parlour if possible. The minimum equipment should be a milking machine and limit the exposure of the milk to any air, goats milk will pick up taints and...
