    Yes - you were spot on - cap pushes the O ring down on the snap ring and expands in the hole to hold it - the bit under the cap is just a guide to keep the short bit of cable inside in place...

    Not tried getting it out yet, but your description of cap etc is spot on - I wasn't sure if the inner part had to be twisted or just eased out as it feels very tight! I'll let you know how it goes...
