  2. Re: One Australian farmers nightmare is anothers good fortune....

From the ABC article you linked to

Birdsville Hotel general manager Ben Fullagar said waters were receding, and roads were now reopening. He said the town was completely isolated for about...
  3. Re: One Australian farmers nightmare is anothers good fortune....

That quote is by the manager of the Birdsville Hotel, not a farmer.

Re: MF765 - I've never heard of it!

Not much detail. Most seem to yellow with loaders and backhoe diggers.

Re: Pig Farm fire - Ontario Canada

There was a documentary type programme on the TV here a few years ago following the investigation into these sorts of hog barn fires in the US. If I remember right, the conclusion was a combination...
  7. Re: Student Assignment - how might BREXIT affect beef suckler herds in the UK?

You're right, we don't want it but fear we will be sold out by the politicians and the consumers will buy on price like they always do.

    Re: H Ferguson

    Hi John,
I posted a reply, then read the link you had posted. The page said 4th Nov so realised you had the right date. My comment about the US writing dates back to front didn't apply so deleted...

    Re: Borehole hourly,daily volumes temperature?

Litres/hour is a "how long is a piece of string" question. It depends on the aquifer you drill into. Your borehole won't necessarily be the same as your neighbours.

    I'm watching, Joe.
About the hair drier, change the alkathene pipe for some rubber milk tube might make it more usable.

You're not the only one. I'm sure it wasn't there earlier, on pre-mod as a new member perhaps.

    Re: Stock, fencing and neighbours

As the boundary was stock proof before the hedge was removed, it was the removal of the hedge that allowed the cattle to stray. Surely it would be reasonable to expect the "tree surgeon" or the...

    Re: Stock, fencing and neighbours

I'd counter with the fact it was stock proof till their man removed the hedge.

    Yes Joe, I'm reading.
  17. Re: What are these lines on this aerial photo of this arable field?

Can't dispute that the pattern is the same but the satellite image in the OP doesn't look like its been dug up. It could have been take after the trenches had been filled in though
  18. Re: What are these lines on this aerial photo of this arable field?

If you look at the google maps satellite image and zoom right in then play with the "3D" view and rotate it about, it looks like those patterns have been sprayed out. No digging appears to be going...

Re: improving ground for sale purposes

As far as I understand it, if you have inherited the field because you mother died then the value for capital gain would have been set to the value at that time. If however you inherited before she...

Re: improving ground for sale purposes

Been trying to fit together the snippets of info you're giving. Your first post reads like you've just inherited a field that has been neglected for 12 years. Am I right in thinking you inherited it...

Re: improving ground for sale purposes

Oh, didn't realise you inherited 12 years ago. I think the capital gain would have been reset to what ever it was valued at 12 years ago (the inheritance value). As it's going to be split 3 ways...
