Re: IH Hydro 84 - hydraulic pump??

    Hi
Your welcome, I hope it's only that part at fault.
Getting to it is not so easy, you have to take off the MCV, the big block the hydraulic filter bolts into.
But when you drain the oil you can...

Re: IH Hydro 84 - hydraulic pump??

    PS
Probably next test you want is with a flow meter if you have access to one.
Plug into the auxiliary valve at the back & return oil into the filler bung.
You should have approximately 8 gallons...

Re: IH Hydro 84 - hydraulic pump??

It does sound like transfer pump issue then, the dipstick will read full, hydros hold quite a bit more oil than the standard tractor.
The main hydraulic pump for arms & steering etc draws it oil...

Re: IH Hydro 84 - hydraulic pump??

So in effect you have no hydraulics at all ? Does the hydrostatic drive still work ok ?
Do any hydraulics work again if the tractor has been left a while ?
Or if you put an extra couple of gallons...
  5. Re: 1990 fella drum mower- how do i remove skid pans???

    No worries Hugh
As long as you've found how to do the job 👍
  6. Re: 1990 fella drum mower- how do i remove skid pans???

Never done a Fella but I remember an old niemeyer, not sure of spelling, had a large Allen screw holding the bottom disc on.
You needed a special long tool, supplied with these mowers that fitted...
  7. Re: help needed to set the timing on a international 574 or might be a 674

Drop the push rods in & watch them as you turn the engine
  8. Re: help needed to set the timing on a international 574 or might be a 674

There should be a pointer on the front of the engine pointing at the crank pulley.
Get a bit of Emery tape & clean up the pulley, there are timing marks on it.
Find the marks with 10 & 20 on them,...

    Re: CASE 4230 Hydraulics

All you need to take off initially is the seat etc to get that plate off & see inside the hydraulic top cover.
Try to see if anything is broken, if it is then yes, you'll have to take the cab off,...

    Re: CASE 4230 Hydraulics

I've seen a few bits inside those hydraulic top covers break.
The part that is splined onto the cross shaft occasionally splits along a spline right through the retaining allen screw.
    Also seen the...

Re: Hydro 84 - Power Steering

    Hi
The MCV ( multi control valve ) Is on the transmission on the left hand side.
Get down under the cab steps ( LHS ) look up in behind the LHS back wheel, you should see a large rectangular block...

Re: Hydro 84 - Power Steering

    Dunny
It's the same pump does the steering as the hydraulics.
The flow goes from the pump to the flow divider, the first 2.5 gallons per minute go to the power steering through that central orifice...

Re: Hydro 84 - Power Steering

If everything else is working ok & the power steering is tight the fault is more than likely dirt in the flow divider.
You can find this in the bottom of the MCV ( multi control valve )
    This is the...

    Re: international 584 losing oil

    Hi
    Your welcome, I'll just add...
If you are overhauling the engine fully & it sounds as if you are, please budget for a new oil pump.

    Re: international 584 losing oil

    PS
The liners may need a puller but you can often knock them out with a good piece of hardwood.
The same applies to refitting having made sure you lubricate the liner to help it go in past the o...

    Re: international 584 losing oil

    Hi
Valve stem seals are the obvious cause on these engines but if you've taken the head off now & the liners have even a small lip, then it's probably time for a piston/liner overhaul.
    May as well...

    Re: Case Magnum PUH?

There was a pickup hitch available, I'm can't remember who made them 🤔
It had twin hydraulic rams, one either side to lower & lift the hook mechanism.

Your very welcome for any little knowledge I can pass on.
I wouldn't worry about the oil to much provided you obviously clean the qr probes before putting them into the quick release couplings....

    Re: 1255xl

Ok, well you'll be extremely lucky to find anyone who has had one of these machines apart, they are that reliable.
I worked in IH dealer right through the 1255 era & beyond & never had one apart !...

What's happening ? Can you shift the gear lever across to where 5th & 6th are ? If you can does the lever move into 5th or 6th, IE back & forward but nothing happens ?

Re: cleaning out emulsafied oil from a 674

Drain existing oil, put about 6 gallon of cheap multi purpose oil mixed with 6 gallons of diesel, 50/50 mix, no more than 12 gallon max.
Run the tractor like this at 1200 rpm for about 20/30...

    Re: Case 4230 brake issues

It won't clamp with jubilee clips, the plastic is pretty tough. You could just take the bottle off & find a glue that would stick the tube into the bottle as they're just a press fit.
    But new...
