    30mm should be more than enough for a splitter. I built mine using a shear grab ram and used the pivots and pins (25mm)

    I take it you've jacked her up and adjusted the star wheel intill shoes are just touching the drum? You need to do this with both brake rods disconnected really. Then adjust rods to suit pedal height.

    Can't you adjust the cable? Hoses will have a joint behind R/H step above battery tray if that's where your battery is

    If tractor is on 540 or 540E then the 800rpm will be registering an overspeed and knocking out, this I would guess points to a speed sensor issue. MF used to have them by the L/H lift ram, not sure...
