    I think those drawbar pull tests are done with a very heavy test rig connected via a strain gauge. Apply the brakes on the rig till the tractor can't pull it and read the max value on the gauge.

    Wouldn't excess fuel cause black smoke (and extra power)? Always thought blue smoke was from oil burning.

    Don't forget parts of that transmission are also radio waves and electronic as they are converted from one to the other and back again at various points along the journey.
