    When will it rain

Properly I mean, not just a few spots whipped through on the wind.
3.4mm this month here and today a gale force wind at 47% humidity is ripping moisture away.
No worries just yet but getting there.

some fairly boggy bits here still as well, although in the main fairly dry. The rain we have had with the higher temperatures is greening things up nicely though. I just wish the strong winds would die down a bit!

Cotswolds. I thought i had updated location.....

We are on clay here, so it does tend to retain the water in places, but still some squelch areas after a week of showers.

43mm here in the last week, and we are in a low rainfall area!

Definitely do not need any rain for a month.

Still sitting on the surface in puddles here, but at least it is not pouring off in rivers like it was in March! Wind has been fierce, but now dropped, so you can hear yourself think!

That's just along from us, some of our last sown light land was blowing badly today but the organic veg growers along the road was serious.

    Yes !

We don't need any more of the Damn stuff....Waiting for it to dry out enough to drill Spring Barley & Spring Triticale !
Took advantage of the drier spell 10 days ago & spread broiler litter on maize stubbles & worked it in with a Kongskilde Vibro-flex. I had Intended to just go over it once after that with the Woods cultivator before drilling....but it was like bloody conctrete under the top 4/5 inches , So I did the whole lot with the Flatlift down to about 24 inches. Now you can't walk on it without sinking up to your ankles !

    Lucky You!

No sand storms here - the wind is not able to lift the mud into the air!
The flooded areas have started to shrink over the last month for the first time in about 9 months

You can have my rain, lashed it down yesterday and is doing so again today.Loch Tay must have risen at the very least 4' in 48 hours.Bearing in mind its a mile wide and 17 long,it takes some filling. No sign of a desert either.

    Re: When will it rain

Got spring barley finished on Saturday, started raining Sunday. Yesterday was 60mph + winds and today we have had horizontal rain most of the day. As Fifer says above flooded areas were beginning to shrink but their back now. Must admit it has at least warmed up a bit, grass has turned from brown to yellow

Getting quite dry on the top here, however I will never ask for rain again, would rather put up with a drought any day!

Holy Moly .. that was some wind last night. Tins flying off doors and the odd sheet lost plus flying calf hutches (fortunately without calves otherwise they would have been in the Menai Straits!). Amazing to still have power.

Makes one wonder which sort of weather is the worse: Snow, rain or a hooly like last night?

Im seriously fed up of rain, wind, snow - and the combinations of all 3 over the last 3 years. You can stick your rain, i just want the weather to go back to what could be described as normal!

Farming has always been a challenge, but one which you work with the weather. Theres no predictability from season to season and every job is a fight against unseasonable storms and floods. Its wearing very thin with me.
If in doubt, yank it out!
