Sheep attacks across the central belt from Fife

I'm hearing rumours that there has been an increase in the number of incidents of sheep killed in the Central Belt of Scotland - significantly more that expected and has spiked. These attacks are being attributed to dogs and on a large scale and is looking more orchestrated rather than incidential. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

I understand that one farm has had 100 killed and mutilated over a two night period. Carcasses are being left in the field. I have also been told that this is happening on numerous farms in a widespread area. Any information would be appreciated please.

Certainly do seem to be a lot more than normal. It could be that some folk are having to use fields they would try to avoid putting sheep in (close to towns paths etc) due to weather/lack of grass but I'm not sure that would account for the level of increase some areas are suffering. There is a suggestion that it is a form of sport for some, take dog/s to field and let it/them go at it. I hear that our new unitary police force are even beginning to notice.

That's actually more or less what I have heard as in they could be using sheep to train fighting dogs to kill.

I would be grateful for any other information regarding this please. It would be good to see how widespread this is and whether all events have something in common with each other. Has anyone else had any experience of this happening and is it worse than normal. Your help would be appreciated please.

Obviously this isn't as big a problem as I have been informed, either that or everyone is keeping very quiet about it.

There was an article in the Farmers Guardian last week about dog baiters targeting sheep to train their dogs.

This is absolutely shocking, people responsible for these dogs really have to be dealt with. The dogs must be shot if at all possible.

Then they just start another dog and need more sheep.... Shoot the people and be done with it before sheep bore them and they start upgrading to who knows what other animal....
