    Silage making 2013

Just a couple of pics from our first cut, I'm sat on the pit with the telehandler so don't get much chance to take some good pics, must try harder at 2nd cut!

How the hell did you make pictures come up in thread?

T7040 autocommand, brought second hand this winter. Trying to find some butterfly mowers with groupers on for the back now!

It grew a lot in the last few weeks luckily.

It doesn't evenly & spread wide enough.
We usually ted it out twice, wilt for 48hrs, row up & bale (chop). Try to make dry'ish silage.

How low do you set the spreading plate when spreading? Our Neighbour has one and when he leaves the field there isn't a yellow bit left in the field, just an even mat of cut grass. The driver complains that at night its hard to see what's been cut and whats not.

When they 1st got theirs the spread plate was made wrong and was facing the wrong way and not working, with the proper spread plate its very impressive how well it leaves the grass spread.

They maintain that the Kv will leave grass ad dry as their JD 1360 will after being tedded once.

nothing but lumps. there's no doubt a good operator makes a hell of a difference but it still makes lumps and then you pull them in with a 4 rotor rake and that just lots of little lumps into big lumps.the man on the chopper hates them, theres nothing can slow the job down like one one of them can, we've got a chopper now that can handle them but it still slows it down a fair bit .scattering it with the mowers does a far more even job. theres a boy round here works with a 9ft tarup mower which is one of the best I've seen for spreading, I thought it was the same as that kv ????
