    intake hopper low level indicator

Hello, We are just finishing a self emptying intake hopper for a continuous flow grain dryer. Made it as high as the loading shovel will fill so now cant see the over flow or the contents when nearly empty . Any suggestions for either. Mechanical might be most cost effective once made. I could put a low level electrical touch pad with micro switch in , but cant help thinking there is a simple mechanical device which could be fitted. Thanks Crusader

yes , dont really want to cut a slot in the steel work to fit perspex , need to be able to see from a distance and at night. was thinking of a mechanical device or possibly even an electric sensor linked to a siren or a flashing beacon. Thanks again C .

If you can find a sensor off an old accord drill you can wire them to a bulb or beacon. Probably need to be 12volts tho.

This is what we fitted to our dried intake bin. It also turns the elevator that empties the bin on and off.
No moving parts so should be reliable. But try and mount it in the flow of the grain so that the dust gets rubbed off.

Ball valve off a water tank in the hopper connected to an indicator arrow on the outside. the ball wil float and sink just like it does in water.
