Has anyone even seen a fly yet

They may just be extinct, plenty of midges though.
11C, showery and windy this morning, not good for breeding.

Not many about here yet. Midges are the worst I've seen them here (don't usually get any!).

Had one hot day 10days ago I think, had to spot on the bulls, and some grazing near some trees. Back to cold again the next day so all gone. Got bit to pieces the other night with midges, not had it as bad as that before.

Not many flies round muckheap, swallows and house martins are struggling.

Out of 22 nests only 2 have a brood in them. Just hope they can get enough to suvive.

Yes loads and around for weeks. Dung flies were out in April. Sheep got struck for the first time last week. First flies appeared in the kitchen last week too. Plenty of flies on the cows and the bull. Plenty of swallows too! Flytags already in the calves, putting the pour-on onto the heifers next week.

I was trying to find a local news item that I think was on TV yesterday.
Not livestock related, but swarms of flies in a neighbourhood where there had been fly-tipping!

Had a few dirty ewes with small pockets of maggots, but they're certainly not running riot yet.

This is what we endure every year on the shores of lough neagh as soon as the first warm spell of weather arrives. thankfully it only lasts about a month.

Just shorn 450 ewes today, and we had two with tiny bits of fly-strike.

Yes,really weird as been doing sheep jobs and hardly a fly in sight, normally driving you nuts buzzing around the head and landing on your ears.

    Not that i'm complaining.

Want some?????????? Be glad to send you all the biting little bastards you want along with some heat... supposed to hit 37 C here today and the flies are just plain hateful. What bothers me is, haven't seen a bat. Had plenty when we had the little fake summer that brought the swallows in April but none now (that I have seen).....
