We have just put a 10kw solar pv on a farm shed and are in the process of powering the farm house from it. any tips on how to get the best use of free electric during the day? For starters we have an electric aga and think we need one of the fancy timer things to switch it on and off? any other ideas around the house appreciated.
Use timers on the washer, dryer, dishwasher and immersion heater.
you can get boxes that will operate circuits , water heaters, storage heaters only when the solar is making enough electric
Heat up a big tank of water during the day and draw on it for your central heating at night.
Any way you can charge up a large bank of batteries to then run the house lighting through the night? Sorry might be completely impracticle but hey what do i know!

We've just fitted electric central heating in a property we rent out. It's a 12kw boiler when on full chat!!! Takes an hour to heat 3 bed stone built farmhouse from cold. Next step for us will be panels. Seems just what you may need. All it is is a boiler (similar to power shower) and an accumulator tank. You can bypass the tank to get heat into the house quicker if needs be or just heat tank during cheap off peak rate as we currently do!

Keep your Aga at the black line 24/7 and leave the lids up during the day. That'll use up a bit. Even leave the doors open if you have to!!
You could also keep imersion heater going constant.
