    Tablet software - dairy

I've developed a tablet-PC software to our dairy farm. We got 100 milkers, total of 250 animals.

For few years i've been trying to get my hands on breeding, health, production, etc. with papers, Excel, maps, etc... a horrible mess, sometimes.

This kind of softwares here in Finland are missing. What is the situation in UK, or Europe?

I've started renting licenses for my software and I suppose I can some day translate it into English if there are markets.

You may try to watch the videos or pictures at website ( http://www.naka.fi/ ) but they're all in finnish, so I try to briefly explain what this is about:

    - Individual history and some analytical information on each cow
    - Dozens of reports of breeding, production, overall view of the herd, ...
    - Milk quality page where you can individually or overally view and add notifies of amount of the milk, or mastitis, or cells, etc
    - Internet connection only on logging in, no databases on Internet ; fast and reliable
    - always with you (tablet!) , bring it to lunch, drink some tea and check reports and individuals
    - easy to use, designed and produced by me to our cowshed, so all in-practical things have been eliminated
    - Practical, #2

Requires Windows 8, 10.6" tablet-PC and connection to web. I recomment tablets with keyboard-attachments within the package

    We use Uniform-Agri dairy software.

IF I had an tablet-pc & adequate 3G/outside wifi, I'd use their Uniform Touch programme.
See http://www2.uniform-agri.com:8080/en...+UNIFORM-Touch for their demo video, so you can compare.

    Thank you

What you want from the software may vary in different areas.. milk production in UK is bigger and different than in here

The program seems a bit more complicated (to use), perhaps slower to use in practical situations and touch-screen advantages doesn't seem to be in big role there. It's also wider in it's action area, there's something about costs etc. Designed for larger herds I suppose, since UK's milk prodution is bigger than Finland's.

We have 100 milkers, and 150 young ones in here, and my program handles it well. It has capacity to 5000 cows, but I don't know how good it is in larger herds since there are'nt many in Finland. Average finnish dairy farm has appr 25 milkers but they're not my target group; I'm targetting at least 50 cows farms, more like 100 or even 200.

To compare, my software is designed more to practical use. In our farm, I add weekly litres of all cows to the software (20min) and I test appr 100 to 150 milk quality (cells) and add them also to the software.

When you have typed the cow's eartag, you see with one tap it's basic information (pretty much same with UA-software but in more graphical and clear way) and cow's heat events, health events, basically every event added to the cow. currently, there are appr 70 different events. You can add "heat", or you can be more accurate; blood, some kind of slime (what you call it in english, hope you understand), running around, standing still, jumping etc. just to be more accurate with the timing of insemnation.

Second tap and you see cow's production line, in graphics. Also milk quality is there, and some basic information. In milk page you can browse every animal fast and easily, so every now and then, I browse our cattle and see how they're going. Only in few seconds I have an opinion on the cow.

Don't know about reports on that software, but in mine they're color-coded and available for printing too (viewing reports on tablet screen is pretty much the same you view them on paper..). One report has key information on the whole herd, such as how old they're insemninated (??) first time, how many removed cows have calved, etc. there's about 10-15 different values and I can add more when I come up with some.

Access to information and fast and easy adding is the key part of my software. Graphics are important too, they're designed in such way that I can see fast and easily what's all about.
