    Lamma 2014 @ Peterborough

Less than 2 weeks now to this years Lamma show.

Hopefully with the new venue there will be even more to see, personally I hope there is an equivalent to the old small sheds at Newark where there always seemed to be many interesting small exhibitors with products or equipment relevant for the workshop!

Shaun and his team at Sumo are working hard at the moment having only received their confirmed actual plot details just before christmas leaving only 3 working weeks to finalise things.

Sumo's stand G1 at Peterborough is end of row, Shaun seemed to think they were having a slightly smaller sized marquee with the large show van for refreshments and the smaller show van will now be used to house a video presentation of sumo products. Kindly, Shaun has still offered that anyone wishing to call in for a cuppa or a break are still more than welcome to use their facilities as before.

To help find the Sumo stand, head for the red circle on this map

    see you there

    Hello Vern,

Yes I'll be there for both days, but this year intend to do things slightly different.

Because Peterborough is closer for me I only booked one night to stay over coming straight to the show on the first day, plus I have several stands to see for business so I will be there at Sumo's for a bit during both mornings and afternoons leaving me a few slots to get away.

I'm sure if anyone calls in, Shaun and his team will look after them. In past years it was noticeable that lunchtime was the quieter period to see other BFF'ers call in which I think reflected that many visitors were visiting stands to meet up with reps whereas there tended to be more callers either side of lunchtime.

Its all going to be a bit of a learning curve which will be the focus of much discussion afterwards!

I'd of put you down as a sour mash type after your whistle stop trip to the lone star state last year

I was sent to Peterborough to load yesterday & I passed a sign on the A605 saying the LAMMA was on shortly and warning of possible traffic delays. Roughly how far off the A605 is the showground?

We're doing the opposite. Bit further away so we are staying the night before the show, as well as the middle night. In Uppingham, about 20 miles west of Peterborough.

    Hopefully see you there.

When it was at Newark 7am was the cut off point for easy congestion free entry. That meant a 4:45 start from east Cheshire to be safe.

Those of you coming south could still call into Newark cattle market on the way? Our chaps reckon they'd still have to drive up to the "Hungry Farmer" for breakfast and then come back down the Peterborough!!

Looks like it will be breakfast on the showground then as there isn't much to offer on the way up the A1.................

If it gets like that, take up Shauns offer- your'll be more than welcome if you drop into Sumo for a biccky & coffee/tea thats for sure.

Maybe the answer is to take the dinner bag just like any other working day??

I agree, really got ripped off with a beef bap up near the Claas stand last year. I think they need to vet the food suppliers a bit. There's probably plenty wanting to get in there.

We left Oswestry at 4am last year and got to Newark just after 6.30. Peterborough is a bit further and you've got further to go as well; allthough no one knows yet what the traffic situation will be, my gut feeling is you're leaving it a bit late but then i hate being stuck in queues.

    Re: Lamma 2014 @ Peterborough

From the text messages I'm getting this morning. And from just looking at the AA Roadwatch website at 11.30 it seems the traffic is making the journey into Newark look like a doddle. Lots of red arrows indicating stationary traffic.
That's a shame as I hoped it would work well. I have no wish to knock the show. I just guess my alarm clock will need to be set for 5.30 in the morning for a journey I could normally manage in an hour.
Looking out for the next holiday.
