why is the implement line not running straight behind my vehicle on the screen?

also

why when an a b line is made in the field
do i see the next line as i turn into the next bout instead of seeing all the lines that are parallel to the a b line

the answer to q 2 is that I had not specified straight lines but instead using adaptive curve
but the first one eludes me for the moment

If its not running straight behind you , you have entered an offsett in to the implement geometry.
You should have a value in
A, working width
B, overlap, should be normally set to zero
C, hitch to rear of machine
D, implement offsett., again normally set to zero but i guess yours may not be.
