First UK grid connected PV system 95% efficient 20 years later

Reported in Solar Power Portal, 19/9/2014.

    http://www.solarpowerportal.co.uk/ne...ars_later_3256

"The domestic solar system was installed and connected 20 years ago by residential renewable system installers, Wind & Sun at ‘The Autonomous House’ in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The 2.16kW array is south facing on an oak frame with 36, Solarex 60Wp, polycrystalline modules, and an SMA PV WR-1800 inverter – the first SMA inverter installed in the UK. An inverter upgrade of the Sunny Boy SB-2500 was fitted in 2008. In 1994 the system cost was £6,900 per kW with a module cost price of £4.40 per watt – totalling a 200 year payback time."

Presumably John is referring you to the output (95%) rather than the payback time . They must be pretty keen on being green, makes you wonder why they haven't upgraded the system to a FIT eligible one though as then they'd at least start to recoup some of their outlay at some stage. I hope our PV is still doing 95% in 20 years, I'll be very happy if it is.
