    non return gate

Does anyone have any ideas for a gate or something, to prevent cows going out from abreast parlour, turning around on the yard and coming back up the passage and preventing other cows from going out. Have had some heifers in for parlour training, once they get the idea of cake they can be a real pain in the neck.
    Cheers Pete

Now-now, you wouldn't be advocating the use of such things on livestock?!!

For that matter a shot from the volume washer might work too, provided you can get them!!

Personally hate the black. Hasnt the same ring off it as the blue.

    Volume hose is good too.

I don't have any pictures to show, but on this side of the pond they have been putting up one-way gates for chasing wildlife (deer, Moose) from our highways.

basically, they are a 4' passage way in the fence with a row of bent rod (look something like the tynes on an old horse drawn hay rake) on each side which slide back into place once the animal has passed. One way passage with no springs - everything handled by gravity.

Was forgetting it was in the parlour, thinking more for round the yard where the portability of a volume washer comes unstuck! 😁😉
    Horses for courses I suppose.

Thanks for all the comments so far.
Ballygreenan, That Texas gate looks like it could work, cant quite see how the bars swing back though.

    Upnorth, who is Tim Gibson?

Causewaycowboy, Tried the 4 foot of plastic (blue) along with several choice expletives, only keeps them at bay for 2 mins.

Ulscots, Didn't go for the environmental approach, apart from water.

    DairyFarmer111,
Tried the water jet idea, very short response time.

Ironhead, Your idea sounds like its on the line of what I was thinking of, need to be able to make something up from stuff around the yard on the cheap.

There`s a thing, thought he was world famous !

Often on here as Yorkshire farmer. His website is http://tim-gibson.com/
Email him with your problem . His is similar to the Texas gate but more robust I think
