Hard to believe they can do them so cheap, but watch the specs - really need 4GB RAM minimum nowadays.
    Good offers on ebuyer too.

Have you got a link for that offer?

Can't see it on the website.

You might wonder if people are holding off buying - waiting for imminent release of Windows 10.
Note the other thread you'd be able to update to 10 for no charge anyway (not terribly hard to do)
You can bet similar spec laptops with W10 will be almost double by June.

Would not contemplate buying a laptop now without it having a SSD hard drive.

It depends how you use it and what you are used to.
It won't kill you to wait 5 seconds for a program to open and a lot of users are not doing much more than internet browsing and the occasional spreadsheet.

What make of a machine is it RGT? Not that it'll mean much nowadays but I can Google the specs. My 5 yr old PB is crashing and losing connection to the router constantly and has to be rebooted most times after opening the lid. Time for a new one!

    Re: Brand New Laptop

As I write this on my iMac, my right elbow is virtually touching a two or three year old Medion Akoya laptop running W7. It is a very well designed laptop in my opinion, with one spare memory chip slot so you can double your RAM very cheaply. Mine also has a spare hard drive bay which is unoccupied, but could be useful for expanding storage or for use as an on-board backup drive.

Its not made in Germany though. It is Chinese through and through. The only thing I don't like about it is the strength of the lid's plastic. It does warn, or did warn on mine not to place any heavy object or load on the lid or damage to the display could occur.

All in all it is a good value, well designed and very handy budget laptop. I bought mine on offer at Lidl or Aldi, one or the other.

At the price you can't go wrong.

    Re: Brand New Laptop

I suspect a lot of the cheaper ones will share a great deal of internal hardware with more expensive models.
If you use it much, you will appreciate a 'nice' keyboard - not flimsy, keys with a positive action and maybe backlit.
This is not easy to judge if buying online but reviews often mention it.
Screens get better for more money - better resolution, refresh rate and viewing angles - but even the cheapest will be acceptable for most users.

I got one of these through work recently, top spec and boots ready to use in 15 seconds, might be a bit more than some may pay, but this is the best value i7 around.
