Nobody can predict the future. Anyone who could would be so wealthy that they wouldn't need to bother.

I've no idea. But if in doubt, sell half and hope that you're going to regret it.

It's not predicting the future but using the available information and coming up with an idea of what "may" happen !
bit like watching the weather forecast when cutting hay , use the information you are given then take whatever action you think is right .

Last I heard wheat was £106 a tonne. Market will go weaker yet I think. Need investors to put money back in commodities before you will see any rise I think.

Can anyone grow wheat for £106 a tonne? Even the Americans run about £90/t in production costs according to USA figures.

    Blood sweat toil and tears.

USA is looking like a v.good harvest. UK has only exported 40% of its surplus. Pound is set to stay relatively strong (ED may change that)

reluctant to give a figure, except it will probably only need 2.

My advice and it doesn't concern price is to buy a big, and a really big, tub of Vaseline petroleum jelly.
It won't affect the price of grain but it will make it easier to bear when the merchants ram it up your arse this harvest.

How do these prices stack up as regards cost of production?
I also heard this morning that the average weekly wage is now £460
    Are we getting poorer again?

    Re: predictions please

I understand climate/weather folk are expecting El Nino this year so there may be some push in the markets if Australia and other regions experience a more harsh drought which is matched by flooding in other parts of the world.

The problem is as I have said before wheat is about £125/tonne to grow in the UK whereas the Yanks knock it out around £90/tonne.

Few people are very excited about growing OSR next year with the price the way it is.

    Re: predictions please

There has been a slight rise in prices in the last few weeks due to the El Niño effect but it's been held back by the fact the Russians have taken export tax off there wheat a month or so early which may be the reason for the low prices at the moment.
There indicators are that's it's going to be a very good harvest world wide . What that means for this year is anyone's guess. Next year could be different from shifting weather patterns from El Niño. But sadly I will not effect me as this is my last harvest.
Rent reviews /FBTs seed fert spray etc etc costs make the job unprofitable these days and I'm finished this year . Take what ever money I have left out of the business and invest it in my profitable business's.

One other thing! Strength of the pound isn't helping, great for holidays but not much good for wheat prices
