    The rush is on...........

If I'd of known then I'd of brought in the camcorder, so apologies for the mobile footage. Our growers harvesting team arrived yesterday to knock off this 38ac field and then they should only have another 10ac somewhere else to do to conclude this years season.

Very impressive! A few years ago when I was visiting a big farm in Norfolk growing for one of the chip companies, I was told that harvesting was planned so that it was only a matter of hours between the spuds being in the ground and in a bag. Not much resilience built into that system.

Funny enough, they came the other weekend, dug one load and went off somewhere better! Its got a fair slope on it but its pretty cappy clay and running bang in the middle with the rows is the swathe Skanska mucked up when they stuck the power cables in. Leaving it was the best thing to do and we haven't had too rain either so they seemed to come out pretty clean. Big spuds too and also it was irrigated too

I think I'm correct in that they own the harvesters and some of the tractors & trailers but they have a lot of contractors helping with their own tractors and there may also be some hired trailers. They look to be all air braked now and they change them regularly, I expect so there are no issues with reliability or if they are stopped.
