    112 rather than 999

I may e behind the game here but there are distinct advantages using 112 rather than 999 from your mobile.

    Hi,

    Regards,

Both 999 and 112 will go out on all bands so there is no odds

I never saw the point in 112, everyone knows about 999, it's everywhere in common culture, if it ain't broke then why fix it?

I am told although not mentioned on the video that 112 calls will also identify your location to within a few metres to the call handler.
Try explaining your location in a field near a minor road.....to some one perhaps 100 miles away.
I needed it done for me not so long ago.
    gee

    echo112.com. Another option.....??

Just to bust your bubble, there is absolutely no difference between the two numbers.

Yep, those mountaineer types always amuse me......that holier than God attitude towards the great unwashed uneducated masses.....
Ironic that I found the you tube video on another outdoor mountaineering website, in a section advising everyone how to stay safe whilst enjoying the outdoors.
One thing you should definetly do is register for the text service.......as you are gradually drifting out of your mortal coil your phone will continue trying to send that text.
Sadly from the 121 website you need to give your location in the text.
Definetly possible to find you by your phone.......by reviewing phone position and time police can calculate the speed of a motor vehicle previous to a road traffic accident, this is not theory but fact.
One of the main reasons terrorists use PAYG phones.

I *think* that america uses 112, therefore it must be worldwide!!

In Cyprus, all mobile numbers start with 9 and most of them are 99 then some may be 999.....
    They use 112 there surprisingly!

we once had the police hammering on our door on a wet and windy night about 2.00 as apparently someone was dialling 112 from our house .

They had to see everyone in the household before they would believe it wasn`t us trying to do away with someone . It was obvious they didn`t believe us as they searched to see if anything was wrong .
turns out the wet and wind was causing a short on the phone line causing it to dial 112
