    Pictures, how?

Ok, have managed to get pictures from digital camera to 'pictures' file on the computer. How do I get them from file to posted on forum. Bear in mind I fix things with a hammer, nail and pieces of string.

Just upload the pics to an online hosting service such as Flickr or photobucket.
then simply copy the pictures URL from there into the box in this sites uploader.
    Hope this helps

To get picture URL - These instructions are using http://postimage.org which I think is the easiest.

Use Browse to "Choose Image file" ie. to find the photo on your Pc.
Resize - 800x600 is a nice size that fits,
    Choose "Family Safe"
    Click Upload It!

Once the picture is uploaded onto the hosting site ...
Click the Copy to Clipboard link next to Direct Link to 'copy' the URL (ends in .jpg)

    To put picture onto BFF
    - using any picture hosted URL (ends in .jpeg .gif usually)

Go back to BFF & click in the Reply box where you want the picture to go.
Click on Insert Image button, from the row above the Reply box & 'copy' the URL/Direct Link into the box.

Click Ok ... & Hey presto!

    Re: Pictures, how?

Resizing needed to keep storage under control caused some people problems.
    www.postimage.org - http://www.imgjoe.com/ - www.photobucket.com - www.imageshack.us can resize for you if you have decent upload speed.

i take pics on my phone and upload them straight to the forum,no resizing no faffing
but its becoming clear that bff doesn't want picture threads

    Re: Pictures, how?

I think part of the reason the old style file upload might not be back is concerns of security over executable files being uploaded to the server.
It isn't ruled out, just options being explored at this stage.

It really is quite easy to use an alternative host and pictures uploaded there could be used on other sites too without uploading again.

don't forget the big benefit of using photobucket or similar is that once uploaded it is always there and you can easily paste it into another thread or even forum or send direct links in emails and the like, or even link to whole albums you've uploaded. i'm not sure about the others but i have the photobucket app on my phone so it's easy to transfer pics from phone.
