    Yorkshire boarding

Can anyone give me an idea on cost of Yorkshire Boarding - materials and labour.

Looking at a length of 210 ft to 10 ft high.

    Thanks,
    Jon

6" x 1" here from local timber yard. Labour is someone who can operate a hammer and spirit level.

last time i had some the boards cost:
    0.75 per metre 150mm boards.
I expect the cost has gone up.

210ft would be up to to days work (at a guess) depending if the rails (12.50 each) where fixed in place or not and who was operating the hammer.

Buy yourself a Paslode nail gun, and it becomes an easy one man job.

Thinking of modifying a shed with worn zinc cladding with timber for more ventilation, younstock housing, wondering if its would be ok on the side of the straw packs and wether or not it would get too wet. Inch gap i take it?

I got a quote for that size on Friday, @ 1.10. I suspect they've misquoted.

    Maybe that's not 6"x1" but 150mm x 25mm?

Imperial and metric are the same until you try to repair a 12' gate with the metric equivalent of a 12 foot rail and find the standard length is now 3.6m, i.e. about 6" too short!

If you are asking for Imperial sizes, are they not making that a special job and charging more for the labour for setting up the machine? I know when I wanted 6"x0.5" boards to match existing, I had a job finding some!

25mm x 150mm x 4.8m treated, sawn timber. They must have made a mistake, I'll find out tomorrow.

As they put it in an email, would they have to stick by it?

Moral what? I would have told them as there's always another day. Instead, they've lost the order anyway.
