Ah, to be fair, I think there are particular circumstances in Aus which have resulted in these high prices, viz. "gold plating" of the east coast network which has tricked ("gamed" is the word commonly used here) the Energy Regulator to allow significant price increases in recent years. The ref. to hydro applies only to Tas., but we are linked by undersea cable to the rest of the network and thus have to pay network prices. Much controversy about the value of being linked!

All I was saying is that the poster was in a good competitive position re electricity prices compared to some.

As for Trump, my guess is that he will crash & burn, and Yankeeland will come out the other side poorer.

Going off topic somewhat: here's a link to a fascinating commentary re-published yesterday from Dec 16 on Trump's future (hopefully the link works).

Who was that with? just done 36 months with SSE for 11.547p/unit for 3 lower use meters and 11.847 for the potato shed. The white meter was 12.663 day and 8.077.
    12 month contract was 11.23p
I thought that was pretty good as it was less than half pence more than the last 36 month contract
