    soil N mins

    anyone had any results back yet ,mine due soon interested to know whats there and how much faith you put in relying on the results

    Mine are ridiculously high. Not sure where that leaves N applications.

    It would be nice to think that we can save some N, but I don't want to compromise yields.

    I guess the very dry 12 months to date are mainly to blame.

    hello all,

    our's have come back all in the 180 's so decided to cut back nitrogen by 20 kg's per ha

    Ours range from 50kg/ha - 100kg/ha in some fields, plenty of potential to save some fert!

    I thought you only started to cut back when soil has over 100kgs of N? Having some done as we speak where our cover crop was, shouldbe interesting hopefully!!

    if we you get an inch of rain tomorrow the will need doing again as some of the n will be washed down the drains

    Ours are rock bottom: 1's after cereals and even winter beans and 2's after rape! Probably because we cut back N considerably last year on the last dose on cereals because of the drought, so residual levels are probably very low.

    But this doesn't account for the reason why a 2t/ac bean crop has no residual N and fields after FYM are no different to a 2nd cereal crop either! Bit suspicious about accuracy of the testing now!
