    Udder Question

Our Jersey house cow calved about a week ago and we started milking her on Monday evening. On the first milking the left half of her udder milked out beautifully and she refused to let anything down from the right side (the calf had been sucking from that side). Since then, there hasn't been a drop of milk in the left side and the right half has been fine.

There is no heat or swelling in the udder. Some blood in the milk.

Any ideas? Do I just need to be patient?

    Re: Udder Question

I'd try an injection of oxytocin from your vets to see if there's no milk there or if it's a case of let-down failure.
