    Tail paint

Just about to start AI a batch of suckler cows, thought tail paint would make heat detection a little easier. The choice seems to be kamar markers, fil marker fluid or aerosol marker fluid, which is best?

Kamars I found far better than tailpaint.

    Re: Tail paint

I much prefer kamars but my other half, tailpaint. You can get sort of 'scratch cards' now as well but not tried them

    Kamars, you see them everywhere.

Don't go using some specialist tailpaint- some nice cheap non-toxic household Dulux in your required colour will be fine, would never believe it if I had not seen it myself.

    Re: Tail paint

just some cheap paint is all you need, you need some experience at what to look for as well, ie if a paint is just slightly rubbed the cow may not have reached true standing heat yet so will be too soon for ai but should be staning in a few hours
problem with kamars the cow just needs to be mounted once, whitch could easily happen with other cows messing around n then you get false results
scracth cards work well too, perhaps better than paint with cows in cubicles, they just dont rub quite so easy, too expencive IMO
