I could do with slashing some of my bills costs. Dairy farm in Dorset. It gets more and more expensive, I have been with one provider for years.

A couple of decades ago, on this side of the pond, I knew a dairy farmer who took a 100 ft of black plastic pipe, placed it between his pump (well) and his water heater and tossed it on the grass on the "sunny" side of the barn - reduced his electric bill by about 50%.
I have heard about a few ideas, like solar panels, and getting thermal controls. I have read that insulating the buildings can help, but it must a specific type of foam.
I have been researching energy efficiency an dit led me here: https://www.sprayfoamexperts.co.uk/s...ial-buildings/ It sounds like it does have a lot benefits.
What sort of building are you think of using that on ? Can not see foamspraying a farm shed roof is going to do much good
On a dairy farm main energy uses a milk cooling and water heating
Variable speed vac pumps also claim energy saving..
Systems that take the heat from tank compressors and use it to partially heat water are worth looking at
Or cool milk using water through a plate cooler so the tank compressor is doing less.
AHDB have some info on here

That's definitely given me some clue, thank you. Modernising all farm equipment used to process milk will help. As for spray foam, I can use it for new project, which makes much more sense with new building construction to me.

We do a fair bit of work with the farming community, so it might be worth asking for some advice from our sales team, with regards to ensuring heat retention through your doorways is at a maximum. Even if you are not considering this, I'm sure they would be more then happy to point you in the right direction elsewhere based on their experience.
Our website is currently undergoing a revamp, but we still have information on these options out and the team will have much more information if you give them a ring:

Side note: Hello, it's nice to make our first post here. We heard a couple of people had heard about us from other users on various forums, so thought it would be best to communicate directly and help out wherever we can when possible![]()
Hello all. I'm thinking of putting in an atl auto washer for my milking machine. I would like to hear from somebody that has experience of them?
