Is it legal to sow a cover crop from uncertified seed ? as the crop is not harvested ?

Just thinking to keep costs low maybe used farm seed from various growers to make a mix ?

Or buy birdseed mix ?? even at supermarket retail prices cheaper than certified seed ?

or would that be breaking laws

Italian rye grass has also become popular as it can be Roundupped easily

ummmm it was one of the frist restant plants to roundup

You can get, dependant on the sstate, up to 50+ /ha EU money for planting cover crops theres another reson cover crops maybe growen the carrot factor along with other payments in the EU

here i know of a few market gardens growing cover crops most cropping farmers here don't use them eather a fodder crop planted for the sole aim of grazeing or grass for silage or seed

what i find intresting is alot of the cover crops will not be giveing there best effect in a short term i still feel grass has zero value think on this i know guys haveing better returns per Ha selling standing grass than cropping

so take clives case he dose not realy need live stock on paddocks he could sell feed or feed lot with a simple silage and poor grain mix then return muck to feilds

p.s. please understand that I'm not a sales man for cover crop seed.
    Hello York and others.
Here in Denmark did we start selling cover crop seed to our members of our conservation agriculture and min-till organisation FRDK (www.frdk.dk) in 2010. We are 350 members. We was not satisfied with the companies prices (even though they are coop farmer owned companies !!!). We started a web page (www.frdkshop.dk) where they could order. The payment has to be done at ordering. Then we order the seed at a German comany in whole truck loads. We are also selling 5 species mixes. We reduced the price of reddich from 32 Dkr (4,3) to 13 Dkr (1,74)! The sale is only for members of our organisation and theres is a little profit to pay for administration costs. It has been a great succes.
You can do the same other places.
