the mounting bracket for the drawbar stays on the backend of my massey 135 has broken off, anyone know if this can be welded? what material is the casting made off, has anyone seen this happen before, is there any other way to repair it

I see no reason why it couldn't be welded but might not be pretty. If you aren't good at welding yourself find someone who is as it'll need to be done right.Options I might use would be cast rods or 680s rod preheating and relieving the stress with a gas torch now and then during the welding would help. It'll need to be vee-ed out to get full depth with a good powerful welder.A run of bird poo on the surface will hold nothing and end up dangerous.Massey castings were quite good quality material and generally weld well most of the time.Any local blacksmith/fabricator should be capable of making a decent effort.
