Very interesting indeed. I had no idea it could be as serious as that. Thank you John.

Attended an HSE get every one in , if you don't turn up we will visit you.
They were using and elderly loader tractor belonging to the racecourse where the event was being staged.
Interestingly all the hoses for the loader spools were routed through the cab, mentioned it when HSE rep was applying the gimlet eyes to impress on us the other safety issues.
No Brownie points for that one.
In fact I think I left with a Brownie point deficit that day.
Bit of an aside....NFU offer insurance against an HSE investigation......HSE charge their time to you if you have a work place accident, it will be for a minimum of two inspectors.

If you have an accident at your workplace (farm, construction site, workshop, office, . . .) who should be paying for the inspection - the taxpayer?

Contrary to popular belief, most employers are conscientious individuals who care for their workforce.
It rather goes against the ethos of the nation that you are innocent until proven guilty. The notion that you should pay not only for your defence but also your prosecution appears to me to be contrary!

Seen that before and it doesn't become any less scarey the next time you watch it.

Mindblowing that it can get you even if the tyres flat and off the bead of the rim. Certainly something I remember when I'm working around wheels. I guess that's what happens when a lorry tyre pops on the road just starts with heat.

Yes indeed and I have been guilty of welding the odd wheel with a tyre in place in the past, lucky to have gotten away with it.

When you see the tread of lorry tyres lying at side of road they usually have come off due to an excessive build up of heat in the wire cables within the structure of the tyre which can be caused by the wires being badly laid during the manufacturing process or if something has caused one or more of the cables inside to be damaged then the heat doesn't disperse properly which then can turn a small air pocket into a large blister which grows more with the heat eventually working round the tyre causing the tread to blow off the carcase.
And some people think they are just big black donuts!

Yup, back in day we often welded cleats, 3 or 5, into the back wheels of tractors.
We were taught to knock the tyre off the rim & drive hardwood wedges between the rim & the tyre.
Did dozens this way, had I realised the dangers probably would have thought twice !
But I guess the wedges insulated the heat from the tyre.
