    Bird scarers

Anyone have advice on scaring pigeons and starlings out of cattle buildings? Would Laser guns work?

Is there a Falconer on Orkney? Get the real deal.

I have a guy on the caravan site with a very powerful air rifle and night site.
He can clear them and rats in a night!

Pigeons are fair game but not so starlings which are classed as a protected species in England and Wales.

You can move them on but not harm the little tweeters.

I do not know about starlings but laser pens shone into the eye of a large raptor will stop it returning to the area for good. I suspect that with the numbers involved with starlings it would not have the same effect.

It would take a hell of a shot to hit them on Orkney.
Looking out for the next holiday.

Just under the magazine there's a three stage power adjuster, in the low setting using non lead lightweight wadcutter pellets they clear out starlings a treat without damaging the roof etc if a pellet passes through .You don't have to shoot that many for the rest to get the message to leave. Probably have to shoot all the pigeons as they're too stupid to move on. 177 is a better calibre for the low power than the 22 shown above as it's American power levels. Not cheap but can be a lot of fun

What power would laser pens need to be to deter rooks? There is a wide range of power levels available, some powerful enough to start fires and burst balloons!

OK; but what minimum power level would deter rooks? The minimum available seems to be 1mWatt, costing little. Enough? Can buy online up to, I think, 5Watt, which is
    probably too powerful
, besides expensive. (Incidentally, there is talk of licencing laser pens since morons have been dazzling aircraft pilots with them.)
