    Kv plough beam

When turning over our 5f es95 kv plough today the main beam cracked and snapped. Is there any one else that supplies a replacement beam apart from kv?

    Ouch indeed.

Just yesterday been looking at the sales blurb for their reversibles ploughs. I found this:

"Taylor-made boron steel + Unique Kverneland heat treatment technology= Kverneland unequalled strength"

I guess not so unequalled then ;-(

How much do KV want for a replacement section?

Has it been welded before ? looks like it too me

should have been plated down the side to strengthen it

fixing it is probably the best cost effective option ,I would get someone with decent welding abilites to do it , anyone who does quarry stuff might have some decent rods or stronger mig wire not just your normal stuff

bit of work fixing that seen it done though with a heavy box inside and welded round the crack . I think the box went right back to the first pivot and another bolt through as well
had to look hard to see it when it was dressed and painted

There is a chap called Mike Roache in Wexford, Southern Ireland that specialises in Kverneland ploughs but probably too far from you to be if any use

900 for beam so just going to replace beam.

Yes it has been welded there before, well spotted!

Brocks usually have several KV ploughs for breaking. You might be lucky.

bet it hit a rock.............. insurance job ? Otherwise how about 4 metal 10mm plates and weld to frame and use mag drill to drill holes out. From memory there are two separate brackets (1 top and 1 bottom) in the area concerned, so making the beam 20mm thicker will only need longer bolts ?

    Re: Kv plough beam

The same happened to our 5furrow. Broke the beam 2 and both times we just purchased new beams. Hardly worth the hassle welding as it'll brake further on down the beam

The frame looks quite tiny, is it 100 mm x 150 mm? Perhaps typical for this market area but even four furrow models that I've seen have a significantly stronger frame.

    Re: Kv plough beam

why do so many people buy a 5furrow kv and an es body and even the longer 95 auto reset... the eg is a far stronger plough...
could you fit an eg body to it or would the headstock be able for it.....

He is the best at fixing Kvernland ploughs , He even has a jig for doing the legs . If you bought that plough off him secondhand you would not even know it was welded ,and it would not break.
