    Interest in goats milk??

Hi all, I'm new to many things recently, the most recent being your forum.

I am a new dairy goat farmer although myself and my partner have been farming sheep, cattle and pigs for a while.
I decided to get some goats as something I could take charge of myself (rather than getting all the s**t jobs with the other animals. )
It started out as a bit of fun and has grown into a business opportunity. I am currently on a very steep learning curve whilst setting up my business to sell raw goats milk. I have thought about bottling it myself or going BIG and selling to a large producer. Neither of which feels right for me... However this is all still hypothetical as my 16 nanny goats have not yet kidded. In fact I won't find out who is actually in kid until this Sunday.
It will be at least March before any new arrivals make an appearance. Right now all my time is being taken up trying to get my head around the legislation regarding selling raw goats milk and the whole testing goats/food/milk stuff 😣.
I am looking to see how much interest there would be to buy the milk once it is produced?
We are in Bala, Gwynedd. North Wales. Does anyone know a friend who makes soap or cheese that is looking for raw goats milk?? Or needs it for lambs/calves/abandoned kittens??
Please feel free to get in touch.

Thanks for taking the time to read through my ramblings...

    Liz ☺

My advice is to get yourself equipped with a parlour if possible. The minimum equipment should be a milking machine and limit the exposure of the milk to any air, goats milk will pick up taints and contanimation that you are unaware exists. Dairy hygiene and milk handling have to be really good to prevent taint. Be aware that what you feed the goats can flavour the milk and not many people like cabbage flavour milk.

I cannot help with the marketing side of things.

Hello Liz and welcome to the Forum. I have no knowledge of goat's milk or it's marketing at all. But just wanted to say thank you for the way in which you worded your enquiry. I know that you are after advice but a lot of people don't even know how to ask for that politely. The other thing is that your username looks as if it's your email address. I would advise against that. All web sites are trawled by all sorts of people from all parts of the World and it's so easy to get onto a list that is sold on to the scammers. If you feel you want to use a different username have a word with admin on here. They will be able to change it for you.

And good luck with all your enterprises.

People worth asking are . http://www.villagedairy.co.uk/ near Denbigh .
Might be worth asking https://rhug.co.uk/ if they might want to buy some , probably needs to be organic .

If you don't ask you don't get.
Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.

If you thinking of selling your own raw goats milk the 1st port of call is your local council envirenmental health office. They will be happy to line up the hoops for you to jump through.

I have read recently that a couple of big processors (inc Arla )are cancelling goat milk contracts due to reduced demand, Does not mean there is not a local niche you could operate in
    Good Luck

The goat specialist around here is St Helens (I think that is the name chap called Wikopulski). Whether they buy goats milk I do not know. Their main place is near Holme on Spalding Moor, they have thousands of goats.

Angus and Kathleen Wielkopolski runs Yorkshire Dairy goats. He sold off St Helens Farm name and processing to Kavli a Norwegian company.

No Angus and Kathleen kept the all farms and goats just selling the processing plant and retailing side of the business.

There is all credit due to them, they must be the biggest success story in this area. I took a party of French goat farmers round their place in was it Sykehouse, when they were just starting.
