    Digital inheritance?

Now here's something worth considering: how you handle your digital legacy (assuming you have one).

If all your stuff, together with others', is archived in server farms, how much electricity will that take?

And if you use SST backups or thumb sticks, how can you be sure there will be hardware to read same in even a few years time?

John - Through my day job I have been working with a provincial archives - they are moving towards having a digital archive in the cloud and using software which has the capabilities of migrating digital artifacts when technology formats change.

digital archives (long term - legal quality reproduction w/legal quality custody fo recross) is a new, and growing, field, so your question si a really really good one.

A big problem will be anyone having knowledge of where its stored. A filing cabinet in the corner of the office is rather obvious. Having a one-drive account for the cloud (or similar) not so obvious
