    Hill Ram on Lowland sheep

Has anyone ever used a hill ram on lowland sheep such as Texel cross ewes ? Would the horns on ram lambs rupture the texel ewes during lambing ? Could this cross work ?

The cross is usually done the other way round to improve carcase conformation. The horns should not be a problem at birth as they are small to non existant at that stage.

I think you'd find more of a penalty with the horns at point of sale. What's your thinking by putting a hill tup over?

A north country Cheviot would provide both reasonable fat lambs and replacement females from Texel x ewes.
