Thinking of buying a Kidd straw chopper. Any bad points on them? What hp would you need to run it ?

We used to borrow one from the estate next door yonks ago in the 80's, then it would have a 7600 on its knees behind the 17' 8070 and 20' 8080 even if it was fresh, once left it just got worse. Then came the Biso choppers because of the burning ban, bolt them on and it was still hard work, but the biso whizzing away made it seem much better than the kidd plodding along.
We'd of stuck the TW20 on it if it had been free which would of been much better, in desperate times they would use an old NH 37 trailed forage harvester with the spout removed, you'd see the plume of pulverised straw, not really cut, more massacred.
Best of luck!

Wires crossed here FF, I'm guessing.Thinking massey mad means a bale chopper for bedding. But I could be wrong of course!
or
The 450 needs 75hp min and the 814 needs 50hp min going by the Kidd website, but there are other options.......

Don't know anything about them other than the 450 seems popular around my way(there is a dealer close by) and they can sure chop and blow...........
Yeah it’s a straw chopper am talking about. What is the numbers on the side of the Kidd chopper drum mean some say 4-5 or 7-16 is this the chop length?

Or
Bale chopper -

Looking at the Mascus images theres an internal view of the rotor and blades that look 100% like the NH 37 forager!!

Sorry for interfering lads.Didn't realise Kidd made a straw chopper for straw in the sward.........
Thats ok! I assumed Kidds had finished in Ag, never see any blue stuff as you drive thru Devizes by where they were, well except for the NH dealers in the town and their blue!
I equally didn't realise they made straw spreaders either which isn't surprising as the cattle went the year after I started here in '81![]()

Would a teagle 4040 be a better machine than the Kidd chopper
Want hp would you need for a 4040 teagle?
Mmm never used a 4040' we had Kuhn Primor which we've converted to a trailed one, run it usually on a TM 140 (overkill) or a international 865xl, that drives it aqequatly , used to be run on a MF 165, IMO the "smaller " tractor you have on a straw blower the better, as of the blower is gonna block up the smaller tractor will start dying back n let you know, our TM will keep horsing it on till the slipper clutch goes,,, then it's too late,,,
obviously if you have a straw chopper it's a bit different,, but I think blowing straw is better for loose housing than chopping if you get my drift
Big Vern..... Stay low Move faster
How do straw choppers deal with stones?
