    Stray cattle

    Anyone know what the devil you do with untagged cattle that come onto your land and everyone for miles denies knowledge of? Cant find info on defra site.

    Ring up the movement services in the morn. Also let the police know in case any have been stolen from away.

    had a more awake look at the website and it seems the nearest thing would be refusal of passport in which case it 'can't leave your holding' (tell that to the beasts) but although you can't slaughter it for human consumption calves can be registered in the usual way. I suppose I can support it here if it will produce a calf (it's a heifer)!

    Hi Merry Kerry

    strays seem to be a common thing in East Yorkshire, they broke into my farm 17 years ago carrying the BVD virus and wiped my dairy herd out, over 400 of them, my only advice is just make sure you are not insured with the NFU Mutual.
