    I moved from standard helicoil inserts to time-serts about 15 years ago on a recommendation and have been using them ever since.

    As per the article, there's a few wee quirks with them which you have to watch for (primarily the depth of insert which you use in a blind hole), but generally they are a pretty flawless repair.

    Here we have built up a piece-by-piece range of heli-coil style inserts which serve our needs to date although one thing to watch is many available nowadays may be their style but being cheap and often Chinese usually results in they don't marry up with the Heli-Coil spec tooling.




    Came across the Keen-sert on the left many years ago as an apprentice where they were used for bigger sized thread repair on Caterpillar kit who owned the design rights, not sure but the plant hire firm I worked at bought them in direct through the dealers fully branded as Cat. Needed quite a lot of metal to support them, but where they had support would be very strong once installed correctly.
