Yep. 30 acres to go in with the combi tomorrow. Just redrilled 45ac of slug eaten WW with Claydon. It has gone in rather well. A couple of days to nap off and give it a run over with the rollers. Job should be a gudden......Hopefully

Why was this moved from cropping to Direct Drilling?

Drilled 70 acres yesterday afternoon and this morning on to some gravely, clay ground with claydon v drill. Went in perfectly on first field, sun was shining, felt like October!!! Other field had lot clay, flint patches.. Went in ok, covered seed.
drying out beautifully today so will go over tomorrow with stubble rake and tines angled back to break few clods down and cover any seed on top... Few slug pellets on top although nomsign of any slugs..
Then fingers crossed...would of drilled the other 200 acres but lo of it had straw still in rows which we've chopped and spread... Gonna leave it to dry and sumo in front of one drill end march with spring barley..

Been drilling Viscount wheat behind sugar beet last couple of days, 16st/ac. Got 25ac to drill for a customer tomorrow, and 35 in three fields here if we can make it go. Then it'll be onto spring barley on lighter ground, spring oats on heavier land, then beet and taties. Gonna be a busy month!

Finished drilling XI19 last night have been using a demo Dale eco drill in a mix of situations have to say very impressed considering the conditions countours very well covers the slot 90% of the time and more acurate seed placement than our horsch will post pics if it comes up ok, have pushed some of it as a 15th March cut off for drilling and still 750acres to go!!!!!!

what sort of ground are you on ? downs or Brickearth ? interesting to hear the Dale is going well.. its not that often talked about but its certainly got its fans amongst those who use it ....

Left the down land for the moment drill into Sept disced and pressed chopped spring oat stubble weald clay and green sand mix, after 20 mm of rain yesterday all looking rather soggy, drains back to running full bore, this morning all that winter ditching paying off. Looking at the dale rather than the JD 750A mainly due to half our ground being on chalky flinty downland, always found disc wear high there plus can be fluffy if you need to cultivate in sludge and discs don't turn and tend to flatten off. Must say the dale doesn't bring up wet clods like our Horsch as it runs the point much shallower, wheeling left a concern will see soon if it stays dry enough to emerge.

Be fine if using varieties which have low vern requirement or which are basically spring wheats anyway? Anyway this nice cold snap (once its emerged) should be enough?
