    Westfalia 20/40 Milking Parlour

Just testing the waters a bit really:

I have a 20/40, 90 degree parlour with all fittings, ACR's, pipework, pumps wash line etc etc that is no longer in use.

Would anybody be interested in it?
    What's it worth?

Depends on age and condition but it is of a size that would allmost certainly interest someone. You haven't mentioned the likes of meters and feeders so i guess it's a fairly basic spec. Not less than 5k, possibly far more.

    No meters or feeders.
Very basic spec - always thought that to be better! Less to go wrong!

Was put in 1997 but only used for about 10 years ( in two separate stints ). So still in very good condition.

Wouldn't take too much moving - it's all mounted on ceiling rsj's, with hardly anything touching the floor.
Made cleaning down a breeze - should make it easy to remove too!

I'll have a look at getting some pics.

We paid half your figure for a Fullwood, full crystal, auto id,feed to yield, milk meters, acrs,feeders,16/32 (now a 20/40)stainless upgrade washer jets etc,top spec.Steelwork was already long enough for a 20/40.

10k seems to be about the figure for decent used parlours. There's plenty about, and its not cheap to relocate them.

The thing is, the cost is relative to the purchaser.
It was the best business decision we have made in the past 25 years.
Milk price was 16p the month purchased(May 07).
The improvement in lifestyle your parlour could make to someone working in an older set up is priceless!

Depends if your up for a challenge!
Doing it again, we would get a container dropped at the yard, fill it,
    and then get it lifted.
We done 4 trips with livestock/flat bed Ifor Williams.

Maybe not so many about then?!

I'm not trying to be greedy or anything - just what I thought it would be worth.
Surely it'd be a good deal compared to a new one?!

Yes, if you find out what the price of a new one is like for like at todays prices.
Ours was 70k+ new at that time, exact spec, not counting shedding gate.

No he paid far more than that, the new one is a fitted price with warranty. Firstly he had to remove it and transport it home then it had to be refitted and i'm sure some new bits were needed if only the likes of nuts and bolts/rawbolts. Then there's all the ruber work and any seals and the like, they will all have to be replaced with new.

I know a bit about this as i've done something similar myself, bought a seconhand 10/20 near Taunton, just over 200 mile away. Sourced some more sh bits through dealer and installed as a 16/32 with stallwork to go to a 20/40. Everything put in to as new spec so quite a bit of new stuff such as pipework used so that it doesn't look like it's been thrown back together. Total cost came back in the region of 60/70% of a new one.

    Re: Westfalia 20/40 Milking Parlour

But you have to remember we were quoted 15k to remove it.
Its was a daunting task to look at but we just started at the coal face!
It was a huge undertaking, not for the fainthearted.
The first cow milked in it 23 months later. The shed to house parlour in wasnt even built when we purchased.

Tesco Core men can spend more and buy all new kit!

Yes maybe - but he paid the seller 10k for it!
(Thats's the bit I'm interested in anyway!).

Bought at public auction, we paid full market value.
We had budgetted along the lines of your thinking.

I think my figure is reasonable. I'm not in a rush to sell, so can wait for the right buyer.

I think you were in the right place at the right time and grabbed yourself a bargain!

Ouch, i paid about 500 quid, Dairy engineer plus 2 of his men, with 2 vans and trailers plus me and mate with landrover and trailer. Everything pulled out by Lunch time, sent Ralph to look for a chippy while we loaded up, had chips on a beautifull sunny december day and on the road for home by 2.30.

Good luck with that but depending on age i'd be looking for one with meters and feeders for that or possibly a bit more.
