    Broadband

I have just converted a part of an old brick barn into a farm office I need to get wifi signal from my router in the house to my desktop computer outside which is around 120 mtrs with no buildings in the way are there any ways of getting the signal across wirelessly and what sort of price would it be thought if it could be done would be easier than running a cable

Over that distance wifi would lose a lot of its speed i would have thought, best to run Cat5 cable in plastic pipe from the base router to another where needed. Now you have the option of wired/wireless at the office, nothing is more frustrating than a slow erratic connection. Its what we did over a 90 metre stretch using a big roll of Cat5, big ball bearing tied to strong roll of thread to start then pulled Cat5 through .

Homeplug uses the PowerLines as a connection medium. It may or may not work due to RCD's in the way but its certainly worth a shot http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline.htm just put one near your router and one in the barn and hey presto you have a connection. p.s if you ring them say farmer James put you onto them for a guaranteed 0% discount :P

He's not anymore , unless he's using a different name. He's active on the other side though.
