Default car/van insurance

hwta is the best company in ireland ofr car insurance . so far i have gotton the following quoats.

2005-2007 vw caddy van is around the 1800€ mark

2002-2003 golf van with axa is €2995(as car )
with quinn €1900(commercial)
with fbd €2400(as car )

2002-2003 bora with axa is €3600
with fbd is €2500


i am 19 witch is bringing up the price .

Couple things with FBD have you family policys there before, is anyone in you imadiate family a shareholder and or any of you member of IFA

I'd also look at how good they are at paying out on claims. One of those companies mentioned above has a reputation for not being the best.

Personally with Hibernian and have always used an online quote website before using a broker. A local broker is worthwhile if you ask me.

Get your self as a named driver and have insurance in parents name until your older. I have 2 twenty year olds insured for 900 TP F AND T. 01 ASTRA

That is now considered insurance fraud. If caught doing this the insurance company will not pay out.

Your insurance premiums quoted seem very high. Do you have speeding convictions or had any accidents. If not I would have thought a couple of years in something less expnsive to insure would be better.

Volkswagon golfs and their derivatives are about the most expensive car of their type to insure.

Why not a focus, astra, or even something a little less mainstream such as Mazda.

i am named on my fathers policy with my mother my father and myself for 1200€ on 1.9tdi passat . they would have start a new policy for my car and it woulnt make a difference to cost or so i was told when i tryed getting mother to get quoats . was working out dearer .

Agree 100% with Will about the fraud aspect of the named driver and it only comes back to haunt you later anyway. You fail to mention the level of excess with the quotes too which could explain the higher quotes.

And agreed 100% about VW and higher quotes.
