Re: What do Farmers For Action really want?

Hmmm....... a lot of generalising going on here.

Green machine works well for me, holstein cows running efficiently enough to generate healthy profits here. Supermarket contract helps greatly...
  2. Re: Should those with Dedicated Supermarket Contracts get the emergency european fund

Would you consider those on an organic price not needing it either? It's a can of worms, and I don't think it should be paid out at all.

Re: FM woe for midlands producers

Why would Nestle be embarrassed - after all, they're paying a sustainable price to their aligned suppliers. I don't imagine that Tesco are unduly concerned that their AMCO/Tesco suppliers are...
  4. Re: Is it time we all got the same milk price as the dedicated Supermarket Contracts

I was an Arla direct for several months, whilst seeing out my notice on a contract that didn't actually exist anymore, and received the full Tesco contracted price.

    Quick explanation. Notice...
  5. Re: Is it time we all got the same milk price as the dedicated Supermarket Contracts

Like it is with First Milk?
  6. Re: Is it time we all got the same milk price as the dedicated Supermarket Contracts

I would imagine so - I cant imagine any other reason for wanting to be an Arla Direct elsewise. Farmer on a bike will hopefully be along at some point. He may well know.

    First Milk also have some...
  7. Re: Is it time we all got the same milk price as the dedicated Supermarket Contracts

So have Arla. Last time I heard some 400 on a Tesco contract. Also, I believe Arla, along with MW (via DC) have Sainsbury SDDG contracts.
  8. Re: Labour claims scrapping badger cull would save 122m

It may well save them that much - due to a widespread diy job taking place if labour get in.

    Re: BANKS TAKING THE PISS

I've had no trouble with Lloyds. In fact they're keen to lend at very competitive rates - below the above quoted Tesco price. Even happy to finance a brace of robots.

    Re: Best cubicle mats

Had a look at the Kit Speakman mats at Kingshay - most impressive. We opted for the Wilson mattress with premium pad. Similar cost and hard to tell the difference. Wilson advised us not to bother...

    Re: Arla

Actually, Andy, the fact is less than half of the milk is used for liquid at around 5.3 billion litres (Dairyco Datum), so rather than "most" it's actually less than half (circa 13 billion litres -...
  12. Re: Tighten those belts further!! FM another 1.6p

    I think that's rather unnecessary.

To me, LF comes across as someone who is in tune with his farm, his cows, his milk buyer and most importantly his costs. Nothing wrong with running a sound,...

Re: first milk nestle 28.3p until april 2015

And I sincerely hope not. One isn't a "member" of MW. You're a valued supplier. Not a cash cow (excuse the pun, please).

Re: first milk nestle 28.3p until april 2015

I would reply with an in-depth reply, phillip, regarding coops, but I suspect it'll touch some raw nerves, so I wont.

Re: Dairy Crest sells to Muller

I think it's a good thing - fewer processors for the retailers to play with has to better - imo. This was fairly imminent news, as it's been no real secret that Mr Muller had a fair old collection of...

    Re: Scottish independence

Much as I feel sorry for the half of Scotland that are "No" voters, I'm afraid my thoughts are along these lines, too.

That was my thoughts too. However, the intention is well meaning and thoughtful.

My alternative solution is to buy diesel at our local garage - 1.40 per litre. Never a queue there..............:o...

How would you propose to "eradicate" landlords, and how would you redistribute their assets? To whom? By whom?

    Extreme socialism?

    Re: Arla

The only deduction from the MW price is the Dairyco levy that we all pay. I believe there is a volume bonus above 5000ltrs/day. Don't produce that so not sure.

    No other deductions whatsoever....

    Re: Robot Milking - (All)

Looking at the robot option as the old place needs severely upgrading. Regarding the shed, ideally 120-130 cows - was wondering if anybody that had recently built a shed for a robot herd with...
