    cow straining after being served

    a cow was served this morning and has her tail out but 2 hours later she is lying down and getting up and straining, she calved two months ago , worried incase she prolapses cervix
    edited to add I just asked my neighbour and he says he had one do that years ago every time it was served
    Just keeping an eye on her

    A shot of pain-killer from your vet would be the ticket but in the meantime keep an eye out for blood in case there's more to it than discomfort.

    Natural. Seems ok now just lasted a few hours, she was pushing like she was calving

    Had a cow displaying very similar behaviour to this a few days back.

    Transpires she had a minor bruising on her spine and the swelling was pinching the nerves. I think our beast was worse off than yours by the sound of things but steroid and rest appears to be doing the trick.

    Just a thought anyway, glad your animal is back to health.

    A neighbours cow past it's due date was straining and has prolapse d it's cervix. No calve since and that was 3 days ago

    i thought steroids were a big no no for incalf cows.. causes abortions?
